Rosehips are a treasure trove of vitamin C, containing more vitamin C than lemons, oranges and peppers combined, says Prof. Dr. Vesna Srećković Dimitrijević, an endocrinologist, and reveals how to prepare tea from healthy red fruits.
– A delicious hot rosehip drink will strengthen your immunity. It is an excellent preventive measure in the winter months when epidemics of respiratory infections such as colds and flu are common – explains the doctor.
Our interviewee states that rosehip tea is also recommended for people who have had an illness for a faster recovery.
– In addition, it has mild diuretic and laxative properties. In addition to vitamin C, pomegranates are rich in vitamins B2 and K, provitamin A (carotene). Pomegranates contain large amounts of pectin, tannins, flavonoids, proanthocyanidins, essential oils, malic and citric acids, which give it a pleasant taste. A drink made from this fruit is recommended for mothers because vitamin C passes into milk and helps the baby to be more resistant and healthier.
RECIPE FOR ROSE HIP TEA
– I crushed the pomegranate in a mortar, put it in a saucepan and poured water. Vitamin C is destroyed at temperatures over 70 degrees, so I heated the water, but not to the boiling point. I strained the tea and added a teaspoon of honey – explains Dr. Vesna Srećković Dimitrijević.
After making the tea, you can use the strained rose hips for another preparation.
